Course Description:
This course is designed to train staff who have direct contact with people who have Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias (ADRD). Lessons will provide an understanding of and insight into ADRD, the definition of dementia, an overview of the brain, and how these diseases impact its functioning. Specific characteristics and stages of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) will be discussed along with recommendations to communicate with the person with ADRD and their caregiver. Suggestions for lifestyle and communication management will be presented based on current literature.
