Course Overview
Hamstring injuries are common during sporting activities, with high reinjury rates, which may indicate inadequate rehabilitation or premature return to play. The instructor will provide an overarching review of the literature as it pertains to mechanisms, classification, and prognostic factors of hamstring muscle and tendon injuries. Once the literature and practice guidelines are reviewed, the participants will be introduced to various exercises to enhance outcomes of hamstring rehabilitation. Participants will have an increased awareness regarding exercise design, with greater emphasis on eccentric strengthening during hamstring rehabilitation, while also considering adequate rehab techniques that address muscle strength, flexibility, neuromuscular control, and lumbo-pelvic stability. Participants will be able to reflect on their current rehabilitation and return to play plan for hamstring injuries and make appropriate modifications for future rehabilitation interactions.
