Course Overview
This course is designed to provide healthcare team members with comprehensive information on the assessment, monitoring, and management of malnutrition in older adults. The course aims to equip participants with the skills to identify etiology-based nutrition diagnoses, understand the prevalence and impact of malnutrition, recognize signs and symptoms of nutritionally at-risk adults, and implement effective nutritional assessments and interventions. The course also covers the adverse effects of common medications on appetite, the importance of nutrition and hydration in improving patient outcomes, and current efforts by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to enhance patient safety and quality. Participants will learn to develop protocols for interprofessional healthcare team members to manage malnutrition effectively.
