Course Description:
This course will discuss typical vs. atypical feeding behaviors, common recommendations, and strategies to overcome recommendations that may inhibit proper oral motor development. We will discuss case studies to put in perspective the use of “standard” vs. individualized recommendations. Further, the course will transition from bottle to table food progressions and discuss signs of readiness. Action plans will be provided for all common feeding concerns. By the end of the course there will be a greater understanding of the roles of speech pathologists and gastroenterologists. In addition, there is discussion on how to translate what is learned to caregivers.
